A beloved dining institution for nearly 30 years. Vivace has continued to delight diners through 3 relocations and many evolutions over its time in the hospitality industry.
Spanning over nearly 3 decades Vivace was the vision of Mandy Lusk and Alisdair Gribben. They created a dining institution around their love of food and wine and through the years have celebrated the very best wines New Zealand has to offer with outstanding wine lists and menus.
That passion continues with Mandy and Gene at the helm. Consistently delivering the core values of Vivace, warm and inviting with a plentiful Mediterranean menu and thoughtful extensive wine list.
In 2005 Alisdair and Mandy set up La Zeppa Bar with Gene Gibson, Steve MacKenzie & Justin Feaver-Gross. The team worked together at Vivace & La Zeppa for several years until they sold in 2009. By 2013 Alisdair was ready to spread his wings and went to set up Marvel Grill and other ventures. Danny and Anna Phipps bought his shares. Danny is involved with Whitehaven Wines, Whitehaven had worked with Vivace since the late 90's as partners at various Wine & Food Festivals and many wine tastings
Over the years Vivace has moved to three different sites as Auckland's CBD has changed. It has been shaped by all of those above & all our wonderful staff who have worked over the years. We have staff working at Vivace who's parents worked with us in the 90's while in their teens. It is truly a family style restaurant. We have multiple generations of customers - people who got engaged at the restaurant, had multiple family birthdays with us, weddings, and whose children are now coming on dates at Vivace, or even joining our workplace.
